CATALOG DESCRIPTION
Special problems in grammar; recommended for majors and minors. Prerequisite: 3000-level Spanish course or equivalent.
COURSE DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES
Spanish 4302 is designed to develop a strong command of the Spanish grammar. The course reviews special problems of the Spanish grammar such as the subjunctive, uses of ser and estar, uses of the imperfect and preterit tenses, use of prepositions, etc. Literary readings are used for vocabulary development, analysis of idiomatic expressions, and illustration of grammar points that pose difficulties to students.
PREREQUISITES
3000-level Spanish course or equivalent. If you do not have the required course preparation which is provided at the 3000 level you will not be eligible to take this class. If you have not taken any 3000-level Spanish course you must have my permission to continue in this class
SYLLABUS MODIFICATION
The course syllabus is subject to change. This includes, but is not limited to, class schedule, number of exams, exam dates, percentages, etc. The instructor reserves the right to modify the syllabus if necessary. Changes will be announced in class. Students not attending when changes are announced, are responsible for obtaining this information.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
Students are expected to attend class regularly. The maximum number of absences (justified or unjustified) during Summer I is two. If a student exceeds this number there will be a reduction of the student's grade. In this class for each absence beyond two, the grade of your final average will be reduced seven (7) points. For example, if your final average is 86 (B) and you have three absences your final grade will be reduced to 79 (C+). If you have four absences your final grade will be reduce 14 points, etc.
EVALUATION
There will be three exams and the final exam. The final will include the material covered after the third exam. (Chapters IX, X , XII).
PERCENTAGES
3 Exams 25% each (total 75%)
Final 25%
TOTAL: 100%
Final course grades will not be posted.
NO MAKEUPS WILL BE GIVEN (no exceptions).
MATERIAL
Exams will reflect the material of the required textbook and workbook, and any other material discussed in class. If time allows, students may be assigned compositions.

A 94-97
A- 90-93
B+ 87-89
B 84-86
B- 80-83
C+ 77-79
C 74-76
C- 70-73
D 60-69
F 59 and below
CLASS CONDUCT
Eating is not allowed. Turn off your cell phone. Receiving or placing phones calls during class is very disturbing. Therefore, failing to turn off cell phones will be considered academic misconduct.
All students are expected to be on time to class. Leaving class early may count as an absence. Cheating and other academic misconduct described in the University of Memphis Student Handbook may constitute the basis for receiving a failing grade in this course.
